MOTORCYCLE RIDES IN LEELANAU COUNTY
The section of M-22 that winds through Leelanau County is renowned for its great views and easy access to beaches, small towns, and farms.
Whether the fall colors are peaking, the warm summer breeze is blowing, or the spring trillium is out, these rides will give you the best views of the county. If you’re in a rush, it’s best to stick to M-22, which winds itself around the peninsula.
The routes below take the long way around—guiding you past old barns, orchards, and small towns.
NORTHERN ROUTE
This route takes you all the way to the lighthouse on the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula and back. Quiet county roads and a few miles of hard-packed dirt roads provide views of rolling hills, Lake Michigan, and the beautiful county we call home.
SOUTHERN ROUTE
This route heads south toward Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and ends at Point Betsie Lighthouse. You’ll need a NPS park pass, which can be purchased at the entrance, to drive on breathtaking Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. There are no dirt roads on the main route, but there are alternative options (red lines on the map) for those who want to get off the pavement.
